About Us

With 30+ years of Civil Engineering experience in Alabama, Russ understands the challenges that face public sector and private sector clients in regard to their engineering and construction needs. A native of Mobile, his work experience has led him across the State of Alabama, providing services during his career in the cities of Foley, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Birmingham, Prattville, Wetumpka, Gadsden, and Mobile as well as Tuscaloosa County, Elmore County, Autauga County, Jefferson County, Shelby County, Mobile County, Baldwin County and many other locations.

As a graduate of the University of Alabama, he is heavily involved with his University, as he is the lead for the Civil Engineering Senior Design Class at the Capstone and serves on the Board of Advisors for the College of Engineering Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department. He is the recipient of the 2020 Keith Woodman Award for outstanding service to the Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama and the 2025-2026 CCEE Distinguished Departmental Fellow Award for sustained excellence in engineering, distinguished professional achievement, and steadfast commitment to the advancement of the educational mission of the Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama.  

Russ came back to Tuscaloosa in 2009 and started building relationships with the local municipalities, ALDOT, and Tuscaloosa County. He is proud to continue his commitment to the Tuscaloosa and Northport areas with the founding of The Capstone Engineering Group .
